For 18 years now, Anderson’s Martial Arts Academy has been the only school for learning Jeet Kune Do (JKD) in Manhattan. JKD was the brainchild of Bruce Lee who developed the style in the 1960s based on using minimum movement with maximum power. You can read more about the history of JKD in our ‘Classes’ section above.

But it’s a new computer game that’s got everybody talking about the late martial arts and movie legend, known by many as the ‘Father of MMA (Mixed Matrial Arts)’.

‘UFC’ which was released last month features an unlockable Bruce Lee character. Users can select Lee to fight with modern-day UFC celebrities such as George St. Piere- a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which we also teach! This has caused a stir among the martial arts community as people claim no game could ever come close to simulating the natural flow and power of such a legend. And at AMAA we agree.

Sitting staring at a screen whilst playing a computer game, whilst perhaps entertaining, is no match for the feeling of flow and power you can achieve once having learned JKD at Anderson’s.

With our classes, we teach you how to master the style taught and used by Bruce Lee in an encouraging and supportive environment. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have extensive martial arts knowledge our school accommodates all levels of training.

You can learn to be a master of self discipline & self defence whilst becoming fitter and healthier!

Make at least one definite move daily toward your goal. – Bruce Lee
If you’re already skilled in Jeet Kune Do or just want to try something a little different, we also offer training in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Boxing and much more.
